In this diary entry John Rowe details scenes of protest and violence in Boston, responses to news of the Stamp Act. Rowe describes the hanging of an effigy of Andrew Oliver (a loyalist believed to be a Stamp Officer), a procession "of many thousands" from the South End to the harbor, and vandalism targeted at Oliver's home and office.
